STFD Installation

For fantasaurus:

If you go to the HerInteractive website, click on the Help tab, then scroll to the bottom & under Common Issues click the first link: Windows Vista/Windows 7 Installation. Actually I’ll just link it here: http://www.herinteractive.com/cms/faq/windows-vista-windows-7-installation.

Make sure you pause/turn off your anti-virus protection, but HERE IS THE CRUCIAL PART: Literally shut everything—iTunes, Word, the Internet, whatever you’re using. Have nothing running on your laptop. I forgot to close the internet because I was double-checking the instructions, and it wouldn’t install. So make sure /everything/ is closed. After I closed the internet it installed no problem.

I find it easiest to go to the Start Menu and then go to Run, and in the Run box put D:\setup.exe (or if you are using a different drive, then the letter of that drive instead of D). For me a box pops up from my computer asking if I want it to run (for security purposes) so click yes, and from there everything should be smooth sailing.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions! :)

Guys, I got it to work!!  Thanks so much, alwaysleah62442!  You are the best ever!

marinacara asked: Why would you post the GIFs from the new game before a lot of people have yet to beat Tomb? :(

I did warn you.

thatniftykid asked: It was like The Ransom of the Seven Ships? Oh man... my siblings played that and that thought it was horrible. xD Well, I'll play the new game anyways, when I get a hold of it.

That’s just my opinion, you might enjoy both more than I did!  :)

kjenkins350 asked: I had the same feeling of wandering around trying to figure out what to do next, and i understand what HerInteractive was trying to do with the new UI and how the tasklist and inventory are open at the bottom, but it just doesnt feel as much like Nancy anymore with the new colors....i mean, they even changed the magnifying glass!

Yeah the magnifying glass was weird and confused me because it doesn’t turn red anymore.  But it’s also important to be open to change!  HER is always changing small things about the games and they definitely listen to fan feedback, so I’m sure some of the little things that aren’t so great about the new UI will be fixed in future games.  :D

Anonymous asked: So far I'm not really sure if I like the new game, but I've played every game so far, and have yet to find one that actually disappointed me. The UI is weird, but I guess not altogether bad... It just reminds me of the first Dossier game, which I didn't really enjoy, so I'm kind of hesitant.

Same, for me this one was sort of like Ransom of the Seven Ships in that it didn’t quite measure up to the others, but it was still a great game!  I really like having the task list and inventory right where you can see them (trying to exit was a little annoying though.)

thatniftykid asked: Hey! I was wondering what you (and other fans) thought of the new Nancy Drew game? I haven't really heard much about it yet.

I thought it was okay.  I felt like I spent 50% of the time wandering around without anything to do because I had no way of knowing how to trigger the next event, but I liked the more challenging puzzles and the graphics were amazing like always!  I also really really like the new UI (except the cursors were a little wonky).

What did the rest of you think? :D
